Zorbing in the Smokies

Climb inside a giant inflatable ball and roll down a grass hillside at Outdoor Gravity Park in Pigeon Forge. It is the only zorbing venue in the United States and one of the most unexpected thrills in the Smokies.

What to Know

Best Seasons

Open year-round weather permitting. Best in spring and fall when temps are mild. Hot summer days make hydro zorbing extra refreshing. Icy conditions close the hill in winter.

What to Bring

Wear clothes you do not mind getting wet if you choose hydro zorbing. Closed-toe shoes required. No loose jewelry or glasses. Bring a change of clothes.

Find the Right Fit

1

Choose Your Ball Style

Hydro zorbing puts water inside the ball with you for a slippery, spinning ride. Harness zorbing keeps you strapped in for faster spins down the hill. Both are walk-up.

2

Pick Your Hill

Outdoor Gravity Park has multiple lanes of varying pitch and length. Staff will walk you through the options and match you to the right run for your comfort level.

3

Book or Walk Up

Zorbing is mostly walk-up, but booking ahead on summer weekends saves wait time. Rides typically run in groups, so you may wait for a full group to assemble.

Where to Go

Tips and Getting There

Insider Tips

  • Hydro zorbing is the more popular option - the water makes it slippery and hilarious. First-timers almost always wish they had booked hydro instead of harness.
  • Go on a weekday morning to skip the wait. Weekend afternoons in summer can have 45-minute waits.
  • Outdoor Gravity Park also has axe throwing, trampoline, and mini golf - worth making it a half-day stop.

Getting There and Parking

Outdoor Gravity Park is on Sugar Hollow Rd just off the Parkway in Pigeon Forge. There is a free parking lot on site. Easy to spot from the road - look for the large hill with colorful balls rolling down it.

Finding the Right Zorbing for Your Group

For Families with Kids

There is a minimum age and weight requirement. Kids under the limit can watch from a viewing area. It is a fun spectator activity even if the little ones cannot ride yet.

For Groups and Bachelor/Bachelorette Parties

Zorbing is one of the best group activities in Pigeon Forge. Watching your friends tumble down the hill is half the fun. Groups can ride simultaneously on adjacent lanes.

For Thrill Seekers

If you want the fastest spin, go harness on the steepest lane and ask staff for a big push at the top. It is disorienting in the best possible way.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the age and weight limit for zorbing?

Riders must typically be at least 7 years old and meet minimum and maximum weight requirements. Check the Outdoor Gravity Park website for current limits before your visit.

Do I need to book ahead?

Walk-up is available most days. On peak summer and fall weekends, booking online saves significant wait time.

What is the difference between hydro and harness zorbing?

Hydro puts you and a few gallons of water inside the ball - you slide freely. Harness straps you in so you spin with the ball. Hydro is generally considered more fun for first-timers.

Is it safe?

Yes. Zorbing has been operated commercially for decades. Staff inspect every ball before use and control the pace of each run. It is a controlled activity on a groomed grass hill.

Can I watch if I do not want to ride?

Absolutely. Spectators are welcome and there is a good viewing area at the bottom of the hill. Admission is charged per ride, not for entry.

How many rides can I do in a session?

You can purchase as many rides as you like. Most visitors do two or three before deciding they are satisfied. Rides take about 3 minutes each.
