What to Know

Best Seasons

Year-round at indoor venues. Outdoor fields are weather-dependent and best in moderate weather. Summer heat in gear can be intense. Spring and fall offer the best playing conditions.

What to Bring

Old clothes you do not mind getting paint on (it washes out but can stain). Closed-toe shoes with good grip. Water and snacks. All protective gear is provided but you can bring your own mask if you own one.

Find the Right Fit

1

Book Your Group

Paintball is best as a group activity. Most venues require a minimum group size of 6-8. Book at least 24 hours ahead to confirm field availability and gear inventory.

2

Choose Your Game Format

Capture the Flag, Team Elimination, and Scenario games are the most popular formats. Venue staff will explain the rules and help set up fair teams before each game.

3

Gear Up

All gear is provided: mask, chest protector, paintball marker, and hopper with paint. Wear old clothes or ask about coveralls. Closed-toe shoes with ankle support are required.

Where to Go

Tips and Getting There

Insider Tips

  • Communication with your team is the single biggest factor in paintball. A team that talks beats a team of better individual shooters every time.
  • Paintball markers shoot between 280-300 fps. At close range this stings through thin fabric. Wear two layers under the chest protector.
  • First-time groups tend to camp behind cover. The teams that push forward and move aggressively usually win. Encourage your group to push up.

Getting There and Parking

Paintball venues are typically located outside the main Parkway strips with more land available. Use Google Maps to confirm the address and operating hours before heading out. Dedicated paintball parks usually have ample private parking.

Finding the Right Paintball for Your Group

For Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties

Paintball is a legendary group activity for parties. A private rental of a field for 2 hours gives your group exclusive access and staff facilitation.

For Corporate Groups and Team Building

Scenario paintball games build communication, strategy, and trust under pressure. Many corporate retreat groups include paintball as a team-building component.

For First-Timers

Do not be intimidated. Staff will fully brief you on safety, game rules, and basic technique. Within 10 minutes on the field, first-timers are fully in the game.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does paintball hurt?

Getting hit stings but the protective gear minimizes it significantly. Shots through fabric at standard range leave a welt similar to a rubber band snap. Most people forget about it within a minute of getting hit.

How old do you need to be?

Most venues require players to be at least 10-12 years old. Check the specific venue for their minimum age policy.

What should I wear?

Old athletic clothes you do not mind getting paint on. Multiple layers help absorb impact. Paintball paint washes out of most fabrics.

Can one person go alone or do we need a group?

Most venues offer open play sessions where individual players join organized games. Calling ahead confirms open play schedules.

How long does a typical session last?

Sessions are typically 2 hours of playing time plus gear-up and break time. Plan for 2.5-3 hours total.

Is there a weight or fitness requirement?

No fitness test required but participants need to be able to run, crouch, and move through a field. Players with limited mobility can often participate in a modified capacity.
